It happened to me and my family on Hilton Head Island. We had packed all the beach essentials (and then some), and someone spotted a “great spot” — naturally, the furthest one from the boardwalk. Off we went, wheels digging into the sand, kids in tow, coolers wobbling, the wagon feeling more like a workout than a help.

I looked around — and we weren’t alone. Everywhere, families were doing the same exhausting shuffle just to start their day at the beach. And I thought: Why is this still the hardest part of a beach day?

That’s when Hauli was born.
